First United Methodist Church has many programs that reach out to our members. GRIEF COMMITTEE – Caring members provide a grieving family a meal during the difficult time following the death of a loved one from our membership.
LOAVES AND FISHES – Meals are provided for our homebound members on a monthly basis. This project is sponsored by the United Methodist Women. HANDYMEN HELPERS – Home repairs are provided for our senior member by this group of men. PRAYER CHAIN– Four prayer chains made up of caring members are available for emergency prayer concerns at any time. ANGELS IN APRONS – Families celebrating a new birth or someone returning home following hospitalization are provided with a meal from this committee. PRAYER GROUP – This group meets on a weekly basis for study and prayer. COLLEGE CONNECTION – College students are adopted by members of this committee. These members are encouraged to support these students through correspondence and sharing on special occasions. HOMEBOUND AND NURSING HOME MINSTRY - Our homebound members and nursing home residents are greeted by members singing Christmas carols each December. Fruit baskets made by our children are given to each member. In February, our children, grades 1-6 deliver valentine bags to our homebound members, nursing home residents and Henry Clay Retirement Home residents. |
